My very first job was babysitting some younger kids down the street from my house when I was 10 years old. Since that day, most of my life has been spent working with children. I babysat for several families while in high school, then worked in a nursery during college. I earned Bachelor degrees in 3 different areas of psychology and in sociology at Hastings College. After graduation, I worked for a few years in the foster care system until we relocated to Lincoln for my husband's job. Once here, I settled in raising our older 5 children, who now range in age from 22-32, and began working toward my Master's degree. That plan was put on hold when we found out we were expecting our youngest child. She's now 13 years old, and I've decided that home daycare is where I want to stay.
One of my favorite things in the world is to see a child's face light up when he or she learns something new and takes pride in the accomplishment. At Alyssa's House, your child will have plenty of opportunities to learn and grow, while having fun at the same time. Every day we have activities that help your child develop his or her fine and gross motor skills, self-confidence, social skills and self-esteem. We have a dedicated exercise time with some vigorous activity. We find something fun to do each day to keep our heart rates up and our bodies strong. When the weather is nice we have plenty of outdoor play in a large, fenced yard.
We also spend time each day learning through play. Please visit the "For Parents" link above to see our daily schedule.
We participate in the Food Program, which is a federal program aimed at ensuring your child is served healthy, balanced meals and snacks while in my care. I record meals served daily, and you can see the weekly menu on the home page.
Lastly, we are a pet friendly home. We have two dogs, a Sheltie mix and a Border Collie mix, that we rescued when they were puppies. I don't, however, allow interaction between the children and the pets. I have our play areas gated off so that they can see each other but not play with each other. During food preparation and meal times, the dogs either go upstairs or outside in accordance with State of Nebraska regulations.
I welcome the chance to meet you and to take care of your children! Please contact me at 402-304-1250 or alyssas.house.daycare@gmail.com.
